In the typical Bangkok stratigraphic profile, clay and fine silt particles tend to disintegrate quickly into the bentonite slurry. For optimal mud cleaning performance, we recommend using a dual-hydrocyclone configuration containing 10-inch or 12-inch cyclones. These cyclones generate high centrifugal forces that effectively separate sand down to 74 microns, preventing solid buildup that increases mud density and slurry viscosity.
If the drilling mud density is too high (> 1.20 g/cm³) during the tremie concrete pouring phase, the heavier concrete will fail to displace the mud cleanly. This results in sand inclusions, mud pockets, and defects within the pile structure, which can cause piles to fail integrity tests (such as Sonic Logging or Low Strain Impact Tests). Utilizing a desander keeps mud density in the safe 1.05 - 1.15 g/cm³ range, ensuring clean displacement.
